Shocking black: shockwaves from stellar black holes – Like the ripples produced by a Stone thrown into a Pond – Media INAF

Black holes, even relatively small ones, leave significant imprints in space, which extend far beyond their immediate surroundings. Research conducted with the MeerKat radio telescope shows that stellar-mass black holes emit powerful jets of energy that in turn generate enormous shock waves, thus sculpting the surrounding space and influencing the galactic surroundings – Two articles on Astronomy & Astrophysics with first and second author our researcher Sara Motta – Read the full story on Media INAF
