June 29, 2026 – Thanks to the combination of the VLT’s four telescopes and the Espresso spectrograph, a study conducted by our astrophysicist Francesco Borsa of the INAF has confirmed the validity of the spectroscopic technique for studying light reflected from the atmosphere of an exoplanet. This tool will be available to future giant telescopes, which will be able to use this method to search for atmospheres on planets in the habitable zone.
