The INAF Brera Astronomical Observatory is organizing a series of monthly meetings for 2026 on issues of gender, disability, identity, aesthetic pressure, and neurodivergence, entitled “Shades of Red for the Coexistence of Differences.”

Title for the first conference 2026: “No Body is an Island: How Collective Conversation About Our Bodies Influences Our Decisions (and What We Can Do in Our Daily Life to Change It)”

Speaker: Dr. Giulia Blasi – Author, Trainer, and Instructor.

Date and Location: February 5, 2026 – 11:00 AM – At our headquarters in Merate – Via E. Bianchi 46.

Abstract: Talking about bodies (ours and others) seems normal to us. Making observations about their appearance, weight, and appearance; giving unsolicited advice; or using criticism or insults about their bodies as a way to belittle people who we feel deserve it. But the conversation about bodies isn’t neutral, and even when well-intentioned, it has consequences for the lives of others, including our own. In this meeting, we’ll try to focus on some critical aspects of the conversation about bodies (ours and others) and how changing it can change many things.
