The activities of the contract – funded by ASI – are framed, more generally, in the context of high-energy astronomy. This is a sector of excellence for ASI and for the Italian astronomical community after the direct realization and participation with leading roles in highly successful missions, with important industrial returns and the possibility of high-level collaboration with other international agencies.

In this context, the activities envisaged by the contract aim to create prototypes for the consolidation of the technology for the realization of thin monolithic shells. The development of demonstrators will allow the Italian community and – in the future – national industries to participate with important roles in the implementation of new high angular resolution missions.

ROLE OF THE OBSERVATORY

OBSERVATORY STAFF INVOLVED

TIMELINE

WEBSITE

https://sites.google.com/inaf.it/aox/home-page

CONTACT

marta.civitani AT inaf.it

CREDITS

Image: Marta Civitani – Web page content: M/ Civitani for AOX Team.

AOX Advanced Optics for X-rays SHORT DESCRIPTION The AOX (Advanced Optics for X-rays) project concerns the development of innovative technologies for grazing mirrors, to be used in next-generation X-ray astronomy missions.
